On October 28, 2024, the symbolic first column of the new sustainable industrial building for Kanigen Works was placed in the presence of Edwin Pittomvils, CEO of Kanigen Works Benelux, the entire Altez Group construction team, and Luk Peeters. We have an agreement for the construction of a new 1,350 m² facility in Genk. This new facility aims to expand and modernize the production capacity of Kanigen Works Benelux.
“This modern building will enable us to optimize our production processes, deliver more value to our customers, and meet the growing demand for our electroless nickel plating solutions. Every day, our teams of engineers and technicians work on developing high-quality solutions while preparing for the transition to more environmentally friendly treatment baths, showcasing our commitment to sustainability,” said Edwin Pittomvils, CEO of Kanigen Works Benelux.
With this expansion, Kanigen Works Benelux aims to take a clear step in strengthening its leading position in the industry. The new building will serve not only production purposes but also provide logistical support.

Kanigen selected Altez as a partner for constructing this new building, as our expertise in industrial construction ensures the expansion will meet the highest standards. The 40% increase in production capacity will also create new jobs, stimulating the local economy and enhancing the diversity and skills of the production teams.
“Part of the building will be used for storing chemical raw materials, adhering to current environmental and safety requirements while anticipating future needs. The remaining section will serve as a warehouse for the receipt and shipment of goods,” explained Steven Bijnens, General Manager of Altez East/Head of Operations. “This layout allows for freeing up space in the current building, enabling it to be reorganized to further increase production capacity. This project is part of a larger initiative to modernize the existing production facility, improve production efficiency, and integrate new techniques with a focus on a more environmentally friendly future. This is something that we at Altez Group strongly strive for as well,” continued Steven Bijnens.
“Sustainability is central to all our projects. This vision perfectly aligns with Kanigen Works Benelux’s investment in cleaner technologies and processes. Through this collaboration, we jointly contribute to reducing the ecological footprint and promoting a more sustainable future. Kanigen Group, like Altez, aims for environmentally friendly operations, exploring the potential of ecological treatment baths, and rethinking their production resources and processes to achieve technological advancements,” said Steven Bijnens, General Manager of Altez East/Head of Operations.
